End Tariff On Brazilian Ethanol

In this post, I hinted at an unusual coalition to end the tariff on ethanol imported from Brazil. That coalition would consist of free market libertarians/conservatives, and environmentalists. Of course some of the right wingers in that coalition might also believe that man is causing the earth to warm, but my guess is that all of them believe in the benefits of unrestricted free trade.

Thanks to the lobbying of a few big money donors, neither party is willing to reconsider this tariff. The Republicans claim to support free markets and the Democrats claim they want to reduce the burning of carbon, but both seem more interested in satisfying big donors.

So if you can look past my constant scoffing at the idea of catastrophic man made global warming, please consider this alliance. You can blog about your reasons for ending the tariff and I will blog about mine. We may approach this issue from different points of view, but we still want the same result.

Hopefully, John H., Sean Braisted, Karlo, and I have already begun this alliance. Maybe they will post on this subject soon and then more will join up.

Does anybody know how to create a button?

UPDATE: John Norris Brown is on board. Jeff Proctor has also joined up, and check out this.

How about you? Maybe you are a union man or a paleo who doesn't oppose all tariffs, but you don't like this one. Come on board.
